I am the poster child for IKEA. I definitely see its faults (my husband and I once dragged a cupboard barely two metres across our bedroom, to re-position it. By the time we got to the opposite side of the room, it looked less like a cupboard and more like the leaning tower of Pisa!!!) , BUT the storage solutions on offer are a godsend to those of us not currently residing in a McMansion! Surely they'd offer some inspiration for a workspace in a house with not an inch of spare space...? Nope. I didn't find the inspiration I was seeking there. What was I going to do? My maternity leave was due to end - how was I going to return to work mode with nowhere to work?
Then, last week I stumbled across a blog that offered ideas and solutions for homes, home offices, work spaces and the like. BOOM! It was like lightening. I love nothing more than a bolt of solid inspiration. I was going to build my haven inside our built-in wardrobe!! Yes yes yes. One image. That's all it took, and I could envision exactly how my space would look. I didn't waste time - convinced my hubby, switched rooms with our two oldest children, stripped & painted the built-in cupboard over the weekend, and... voila! A NEW OFFICE!! I absolutely, truly, LOVE it! It won't be forever - there'll come a time when our money tree flowers and we can create the extra space required for a family of five - with the perfect work space included. Until then, I am one happy bunny sitting in my cupboard!!! ;-)
